Hello TGA Voting Members,
You may recall that you get an email every year from Melissa, to discuss the upcoming TGA Board elections. Well, this is that email, except it’s from me because Melissa is up for re-election! So here’s the scoop:
· Last year the Board expanded to 11 members (but won’t expand again).
· This year we have three Board members whose terms expire this October at Railcon.
· We already have four candidates for those three positions (details below).
· As Voting members, you have the opportunity between now and midnight Pacific Time August 31, 2025 to nominate yourself or someone else for the Board.
· We will contact all nominees to ensure they are willing to serve on the Board, and able to commit the necessary time and energy to the TGA. Note that these are unpaid positions, and there will be out-of-pocket expenses involved, including travel costs.
· Only Voting Members in good standing are eligible to be on the Board. The list of current Voting Members can be found on the attached TGA Structure document. Note that some people on the list may not be eligible if they have not maintained the TGA membership and activity requirements for being a Voting Member as of Railcon.
· The attached documents explain how the TGA organization works, and what is expected of a Board member. Please review those carefully before making (or accepting) a nomination.
· As the senior officer who won’t be on the ballot, I get to manage this year’s elections, assisted by Jeff Jackson.
· Feel free to contact us to ask any questions, or to discuss your potential interest. Running for the Board is one way to get more involved in the TGA, but there are other opportunities, too.
NEXT STEPS
· Nominations close on August 31.
· Nominees have until September 15 to accept their nomination.
· Assuming there are more candidates than open spots (very likely), there will be a formal ballot at Railcon which each Voting Member can use to make up to three recommendations to the Board from among the listed candidates. If you cannot attend Railcon you will have an opportunity to submit your recommendations via proxy.
· These steps will all be covered in more detail in a September email.

Voting Members who have accepted a nomination to run for the Board this year are:
· David Belew, Melissa Mendick, Justin Moul, and Andi Wynn.
Nominees will have an opportunity to submit Bios and explain why they want to be on or return to the TGA Board. This information will be available to you in September as the proxy process begins.
